Kate's 6 Month Check Up!

Kate had her 6 month check up this week and she couldn't have gotten a more glowing report. The pediatrician had great things to say about her development and is perfectly happy with her progress.

  • She is now 18lbs 10oz. 90th percentile (a little smaller than we thought)

  • She is 27" long also 90th percentile

  • She is wearing size 3 diapers and wearing 9 month size sleepers! She even can wear some 12 month size dresses as long as they are short sleeved!

  • She began her first serving of baby oatmeal this morning and started on 2nds foods yesterday! Squash yum! (it's incredible how much cheaper they are)

  • She sleeps from about 9:00 until around 8:00 and takes 2-3 one hour naps during the day.

  • She is FINALLY getting a little hair!!! Don't ask what color??? blond brown???

  • No teeth yet just lots of finger chewing and drooling!

  • She is saying Da and Ma but usually only when she's mad! (Funny Chris too!)

  • She is just starting to do raspberries, but yet again, this is usually only when she's irritated, it's quite comical to watch her sputter!

  • She is belly laughing like crazy, she had us in stitches Monday night while Chris kept pretending to sneeze. She was laughing so hard, but when we got the video camera, she decided she had had enough and wouldn't perform for the camera! Yesterday we noticed that when someone laughed on TV she laughed too! Time to edit what we watch!

  • She can roll from her tummy to back. She is trying as hard as she can to get up on her knees, pulling her bottom up and ends up scooting backwards!

  • While on her back she can roll to her side, pulling her feet up and reaching with both hands for a favorite toy or person! Since she still does not prefer to be on her tummy she is not completing the roll from back to tummy - we are working on this!

  • She can sit on her own for a long time before losing her balance and wobbling over.

  • She loves her excersaucer. She plays with her toys and spins to see things and goes to town jumping up and down when she gets excited. Since she learned to bounce she cracks ups up by bouncing herself when we hold her on our laps, as if to say, come on this is too boring!

Kate is growing up so quickly, it is just a miracle to watch. We love her to pieces and are so blessed to have her. She is ours, we are hers.

Within the next two weeks we should hear about our adoption finalization.

Stay tuned for my final post on Bringing Kate Home, I will write about our final days in Utah and our first days at home with Chris. Maybe next week... I have to catch up on housekeeping! ; )
